About this deal
The ecorefills are 100% recyclable once the plastic sleeves are removed and, by the end of 2020, the ambition is for all Cif ecorefills and spray bottles to be made from 100% recycled plastic.
Following the success of Cif ecorefill and OMO dilute-at-home refill formats, this year Dove launched a 4x concentrated body wash.Helen Bird, Strategic Engagement Manager at WRAP (which manages The UK Plastics Pact), said: “We know that people are looking to reduce their plastic footprint and the use of concentrates, like this novel design by Unilever, is a way to support people to do this. The design also makes them easier to use than many alternatives on the market, including refill pouches that can be difficult to pour and therefore quite messy. Even consumers who are predisposed to more sustainable choices may not fully understand the environmental and economic advantages that come with refilling.
The team uses its extensive knowledge of packaging, technology and material science to design and develop the most sustainable ways to get our products to consumers. The product still requires the same amount of water, but by diluting it home it means we're transporting 97% less water and therefore 87% less trucks are needed.
By reusing the bottles, Cif hopes to reduce the amount of trigger sprays being disposed of, which are problematic to recycle as many companies aren't equipped to deal with them. Why do you think this is a better sustainability solution than refill pouches or dissolvable sachets like? The Unilever product comes as a 10-times concentrated formula, which requires much less packaging than the regular size bottle.
