About this deal
When I was a kid I bought this on CD—later on I’d bought the anniversary box set with vinyl on it and most recently the Japanese coloured vinyl reissue.
I waited until he had he had smoked one of his special herbal cigarettes, then I put the record on the turntable to play.I feel compelled to post a review because this is album is among the worst sounding albums, if not THE worst, that I own. So with all that said - of course it's still an enjoyable ride, but to truly experience Oasis it was to see them live anywhere during the Alan White years IMO.
The sonics are right on point and it’s kind of sad how this album has been badly pressed over the years.Warning: There is a counterfeit made in 2008 looking like the original - only the sleeve has an slight unsharp print and records have different runouts. com/Oasis-Definitely-Maybe/release/14057872 - Just keep in mind this album was recorded at everything brick-walled to red-line at 11, so it's as good as can be expected.
No matter how many reissues or mixes of this debut album you make they won't sound any better than when they're turned up to 11 and you're piling down the front during the opening beats of Columbia in a sweaty, intimate venue (in this case The Barrowlands in Glasgow in 2001.
I have never used Audacity before/ ripped from vinyl, so I apologize for any imperfections in the rip (I know at one point there is a muffle sound-- I was adjusting my AUX cable.
