Jeff can't bring himself to go through with it, throws his knife to the ground, and lets the dog go free.
In the Monster true story, when he was eight years old, the Dahmer family moved into the home depicted in the series.
There's nothing about his picture that would lead you to believe he would be capable of such violence. We all crave information about people who have lost their minds and/or cross over twisted criminal behavior. Given the title, this seemed like a rather ironic plea, but I held out hope that this was just an overzealous attempt to assure the world that Backderf was in no way endorsing mass murder, but the novel itself would still be an attempt to draw out some depth of humanity to such a well-known horror story.
My Friend Dahmer” is a powerful and haunting read, made all the more compelling for knowing what this boy would do in later years.Derf speculates that the Dahmer family didn't consider getting Jeff help, since his mother had previously sought mental care herself with little results. We understand that not everyone can donate right now, but if you can afford to contribute, we promise it will be put to good use. Similarly, the series omits the fact Dahmer fantasized about attacking and holding hostage a hitchhiker for three years before manifesting this reality upon his first victim, Steven Hicks.
