Osprey Tempest 30 Women's Hiking Pack
About this deal
From well-designed pockets throughout to quick-stow trekking pole cords and even a stashed rain cover, the Sirrus is convenient for all kinds of adventures. I’ve put in the hard yards and asked the tough questions to make this one of the most in-depth and honest Osprey backpack reviews out there! Before you start fitting the pack, loosen off all the straps as this will make it easier to get the correct tension later.
In the end, finding the right balance of weight, size, and comfort is a personal preference, but I would bet most backpackers only need 33 liters as long as they have a strategy, which I cover below! In the winter months, I did find it difficult to squeeze in all of the extra layers I bought (luckily, I spent most of the time wearing them!
For longer hikes, there is the “quick access hydration sleeve”, which sits neatly between the adjustable airspace mesh panel and the pack itself. We do appreciate that some packs have load-lifting straps on the shoulders, but we found that they are often ineffective. A few of our top-rated bags we've been testing for several years now, but all models went through a minimum of several months of regular use and intense testing.
Osprey say that the pack should be suitable for backlength measurements between 38-53cm – there is a smaller version but it’s not generally sold in Europe and at 5ft 2″ I’ve found that once adjusted its been very comfortable even with quite heavy loads.Unfortunately, the Talon 33 does not include a rain cover, which is a bummer as some of their newer Osprey models do. I’ve been seriously missing out on some superb features that make walking with a pack a much easier and pleasant experience. I’ll discuss my personal experiences with this bag and cover its pros and cons, and tell you some insider tips about how to get the most of it!
