Like all of Minisforum’s products using this chassis, taking apart the UM690 is harder than it should be as rubber feet block all 4 access screws.

The SoC in the UM690 is allowed to draw up to 65 watts of power for a short burst before the 45-watt limit kicks in. This isn't soldered and instead features a SO-DIMM design so users can completely upgrade it as they wish. I noticed that the fan speed was often higher however, so that also could be part of the reason it ran so much cooler.

As previously mentioned, we additionally tested the UM690 with the Razer Core X and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti.The barebones version does not include RAM and SSD; therefore, it does not have pre-installed Windows 11 Home. AAA titles can be a bit more stressful for this machine but with technologies such as FSR2 embedded within the RDNA 2 graphics architecture, it is definitely a game changer.
